LEAF 2017 will be held on May 5th and 6th, 2017 at the Colorado Music Festival & Center for Musical Arts, located at 200 East Baseline Rd. in Lafayette Colorado. Doors open at 6:30PM and performances will begin at 7PM. FREE/Pay What You Want. Cash bar.
For LEAF this year, we acknowledge the DIY aspect of electronic arts and music. Even from the earliest experiments with electronic instruments, artists and engineers patched together and sometimes tore apart equipment and ideas, to explore ways to express new sounds, images and experiences for audiences. LEAF is pulling together a diverse set of artists who continue in this tradition, and we are really excited to present their work.
On Friday May 5th, LEAF will play host to a series of performances fashioned around crafting things and breaking things. Using broken bits and layers and slivers and slices and action and blind passion. Sounds and images, music and instruments, communities and commitments.
On Saturday morning, May 6th, LEAF invites you to a “circuit-bending” workshop where you’ll get to hack an old toy to make a new musical instrument.
On Saturday afternoon, join us for a short film program that delves into new media art, artists, performance, music, history, sound and sculpture.
Leading up to LEAF, participate in a multi-session electronic music workshop and learn how to build a synthesizer, along with some history of how they have evolved since their early beginnings. Contact Rachel at the Center for Musical Arts for more details or call 303.665.0599
LEAF 2017 is supported by Mark and Polly Addison, The Colorado Music Festival & Center for Musical Arts and grants from Arts Lafayette and the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission.

This collection from the 30s to today paints a quick picture of how machine-made art and its pioneers have led to, and influenced, our present day inventors, artists and bit-twiddlers. The focus here is on creators not rules: Build it, take it apart, splice it, project it. Sans souci.
