LEAF2021 – Chris Sessions

Artist Name: Chris Sessions

Brief Bio:

Chris Sessions is a photographer, filmmaker and electronic musician based in Boulder, Colorado. In
addition to commercial projects in advertising, Chris is passionate about immersive documentary projects,
most often exploring the Western landscape and the various subcultures that inhabit it.

Chris’ fine art photographs are included in various collections and have been shown throughout the
community as large-scale urban street art in The Big Picture Colorado. His short film La Familia Charra
was projected 100′ wide on a turn of the century grain elevator as a part of the Side Stories Colorado
outdoor film festival in 2019 and on the walls of the History Colorado Center in 2021.

About the Work (Charros De Colorado ):

Charros De Colorado is a lyrical view into Charrería, an equestrian tradition originating in 16th century
Mexico and still practiced today. The film, set to an ambient soundscape composed by Chris, is a behind
the scenes cinematic experience into a timeless and rich cultural heritage which has been passed from
generation to generation retaining many of its traditional values since its beginnings.

“Although unconventional and often challenging to present, the panoramic format is a frequently visited
theme within my work. Having lived in Lafayette, Colorado for several years, I immediately recognized the
backdrop for LEAF 2021 and was excited and inspired to create a unique panoramic film which would
simultaneously look good large as an overall composition from a distant vantage point to a closer one,
allowing the viewer a more detailed offering. I also really love the idea of presenting art to an unsuspecting
audience.”
